Strong growth and even more ways to use SwissID

SwissID crossed the mark of 2 million users in mid-August 2021 and continues to experience strong growth. In addition to this, SwissSign Group AG has launched a range of relevant new offers. With the option to order debt collection register extracts via the SwissID App, to securely access electronic patient records (EPRs), and the electronic signature feature SwissID Sign, SwissSign Group AG offers its more than 2 million users various new ways to use SwissID online, saving them time and money. These new offers are additional stepping stones along the road to a secure digital future.

Since its founding in 2018, SwissSign Group AG has made significant investments in infrastructure for electronic identification. Thereby, it has laid a strong foundation on which to build a range of new offers that directly generate added value, in particular for users. As part of this process, SwissSign Group AG has been able to establish a large network of more than 150 online services from the public and private sectors and more than 2 million SwissID owners – a number that continues to rise rapidly.

In recent months, SwissSign Group AG has undergone rigorous audits that have confirmed the Group's compliance with the strictest requirements in terms of data protection and security. The necessary certification for digital signatures and for ensuring secure access to electronic patient records was issued in spring 2021.

Markus Naef, CEO: “With SwissID, we are pleased to be able to offer our clients not only secure login and definite identification, but also a range of additional services that they can access or use fully online. Our investment in basic infrastructure has started to bear fruit in a way that offers our users tangible benefits. And we will continue to pursue this development. With these additions to our products and services, SwissSign Group AG is playing a significant role in the future development of digitisation in Switzerland.”

The SwissID App allows users to order debt collection register extracts online. As a rule, the digitally signed and legally valid extract is sent to the user via email within 24 hours. It can be used multiple times, for example in the application process for flats. This greatly simplifies the process and offers complete media continuity, helping to save both time and money. This service is provided in cooperation with eAmt, a Swiss online service that provides a convenient process for ordering digital extracts from the debt collection register.

In terms of electronic patient records (EPRs), SwissID provides a secure login for access. As part of the core community “CARA”, authorised patients from the cantons of Fribourg, Jura and Valais can already use SwissID to access their patient records digitally. This will soon be possible in the cantons of Neuchâtel and Aargau. The core community axsana AG (Switzerland’s largest core community that includes renowned cantonal hospitals, university hospitals and clinics) has also decided to use SwissID for its login.

SwissID Sign allows for qualified electronic signatures directly via smartphone, ensuring media continuity and avoiding the need for paper printouts. The SwissID App makes it possible to legally sign documents anywhere and anytime with a qualified electronic signature (QES), thereby saving time and money. SwissSign Group AG is the only company able to offer all the services required for digital signatures from a single source.

Currently, this service is primarily offered to business clients who are prepared to integrate the signature solution into their existing processes. The reason for this is the existing regulation for “onboarding” that requires clients to provide one-time physical identification. However, this regulation will be amended soon to allow for fully digital identification (the change is expected to take effect in the fourth quarter of 2021). SwissSign Group AG will then immediately apply for the necessary certification in order to allow its more than 2 million users to create a digital signature without media discontinuity. With SwissID Sign, SwissSign Group AG is rounding out its product range and therefore making it possible to fully digitise processes from identification all the way to statements of intent.
